What is CBD?
Cannabidiol, also known as CBD, is a type of molecule known as phytocannabinoid. A phytocannabinoid is capable of interacting with the body as it mimics an endocannabinoid, a naturally occurring component in the body. Endocannabinoids are neurotransmitters that bind to receptors found throughout the body. These specialized receptors can be found in the brain, organs, connectives tissues, skin, glands and immune system cells. Endocannabinoids are believed to be an important part of maintaining homeostasis within the body by allowing internal functions to operate at their peak performance.
CBD is pulled from hemp cannabis plants and concentrated into extract form that can be a liquid, a solid or a powder. At high concentrations, it is a molecule that is capable of interacting with the body system found in all mammals known as the Endocannabinoid System (ECS).
What is the Endocannabinoid System?
The Endocannabinoid System is a series of receptors that run throughout the body, overlaying the nervous system. This system is specifically responsible for and manages the use of endocannabinoids, created by the body itself. The ECS is believed to help keep the body in balance, just like many other vitamins and minerals, and is an essential part of the whole body system. Just as with vitamins and minerals, we can be deficient at times, and this is where CBD and other cannabinoids come into play, as they mimic the body's own endocannabinoids.
What is the CBD Entourage Effect?
When hemp or cannabis is ingested, smoked, vaporized or consumed in whole plant form, our bodies are given hundreds of plant compounds. When a scientifically formulated product is consumed, the compounds will be more specific and directed. Each of these compounds has a unique effect and benefit found within the body and mind. These compounds may also behave differently when in the presence of the other compounds, causing them to effect each other in an ensemble, or entourage form. How Do I Use Botanix Products?
For our Hemp Therapy Tinctures, the most effective method is a sublingual dose under the tongue (holding for 30-60 seconds is recommended for best absorption). Our products can also be ingested either on their own or mixed with food and beverages. Another method is to apply the oil topically to your skin (can be applied directly to a problem area or mixed with your favorite moisturizer). For our Zen Pen Vape Pens, simply draw from the opening to create a vapor that can be enjoyed throughout the day and night.
